This shoot took place at Mae&Co creatives styled you retreat in Texas!
Inspiration was desert meats boho bride! We were given an overcast day, so we worked with the light we were given, but I knew with how punchy the dress was in black and white I wanted to do bridals at blue hour to really highlight the dress and all of its beauty! We also did a little bit of a Spanish influence since the dress does have some Spanish looking designs!
We prepared them, by letting them know there would be a lot of movement, and to act as if they were being filmed for a movie not stock motion photos, so that they flowed and were fluent in their motions with one another. We also told them the dress was going to dictate some of the shoot and we were going to go based off of the movement of the dress, the colors in it, the moodiness and all of that!!
For a lot of the shoot I shot through things, so a few pieces of grass, some florals, a prism, just to add texture around the edges of the photos! I also shot from below a lot, to get beautiful angles of the dress and highlight the stunning effects of it! and shooting from below gives you so many unique shots that you wouldn’t get from shooting straight forward!
HIRE A STYLIST AND PLANNER!!! My biggest piece of advice, they seriously bring it all together so perfectly and help bring all of your visions to life. Mae & Co put on this retreat, and I also cannot recommend enough going to one of their retreats!!
